Eastsiders & The Outs

Eastsiders cast.

Another favourite webseries is Eastsiders. It's very well made, great actors AND Van Hansis is starring. What's not to like? I love Van Hansis (Luke Snyder in As the world turns)! The series is about Cal (Kit Williamson) and Thom (Van Hansis) who has been a couple for some years but now they are figuering out how they are going to continue and experiment a bit with seeing other people. Thom is seeing Jeremy (Matthew McKellington) who actually seems to have a real crush on Thom. I think. Or was it Cal? Or both? Anyways, what's funny is that Kit Williamson, the creator of the series is married to Jon Halbach, who plays Cal's and Thom's friend Kathy's boyfriend Ian, in real life! Well, it's a great series and you can see it on both Youtube/Vimeo, Netflix and Gazenet for us here in Sweden. Just do it!

The main cast in The Outs.

And then there's also The Out's which you can watch on online also in Vimeo. This series is about Mitchell (Jack Goldberg) who has a quite douchy ex Jack (Hunter Canning) who we learn are not really that douchy anyway when he meets Paul (Tommy Heleringer) who is really cute. We also get to know Oona (which is a lovely Finnish name) who doesn't have much luck with men. BUT we also get to see Alan Cumming who plays himself in three episodes! And Mitchell (who is kind of a looser actually) has a really cute boyfriend, Rob (Mark Junek), in the second season. I like it! And hopefully there will be a third season of them both! Enjoy!

Annoying Ameeira

Tala Ashe.
Preeya Kalidas.

Watching Eastenders and Chryed again I remember how annoying Amira (Preeya Kalidas), Syed's wife that is. Mostly because she's in the way for Christian and Syed! And she's quite spoiled. And married to Syed. And not Christian Clarke. And I wonder, is she the same character as Ameera (Tala Ashe) in As the World Turns? Seems like it! They are even called the same! Kind of. And she is in the way of Nuke. And married to Noah. Ok, she's not spoiled but she's not Luke Snyder! And there's just something really whiny about them! And I wonder, why are they always making the beards "charlies" with no own will? If the gays takes beards who are strong and have great confidence they will become charlies just as they start a relationship with the gays. Annoying enough. But I am glad Ameera never got pregnant. Noah at least came out in time and avoided impregnating his wife. But, thinking of it, I think Noah was the beard in that storyline! Well well...

Bye bye Nuke!

Jake Silbermann & Van Hansis.

I've finally finished the whole Nuke storyline! And I am a bit shattered. In the beginning I loved them! I couldn't understand why my faghag friend didn't like them and felt a bit newly in love. It's been a while since I found a long, finished storyline with a supercouple that I could just keep watching without have to wait for new episodes, that I really liked. So I really enjoyed it! Van Hansis is one of my favourites. I like his character, Luke Snyder, and I adore the actor. Jake Silberman, who plays Noah Mayer, was a bit shaky in the beginning, but he also became a really good actor! So thumbs up! I loved even though the were really stingy with snogging in the beginning. But as the storyline continued, the more kissing we got and Luke and Noah/Van and Jake became more an more confortable together. And it became reaaaally boring. I hate to say it, but after a while it bace such a snooze fest. And I knew about what was going to happen. I am constantly spoiling my self just to not get disappointed. It's a very good stratergy. Because of that I did survive what happened...

Van Hansis & Eric Sheffer Stevens.

Luke and Reid happened and OMG! I was really not looking forward to that! I hated Dr Reid Oliver in advance and when he showed up I thought "Let's just get it over with", but then oh my! Even though I knew, SPOILER ALERT, that Reid was going to die and I didnt really stopped shipping Nuke, I started to ship LuRe (not the bes ship name though) so hard! Dr Reid Oliver is just the best gay character ever, alongside Brendan Brady in Hollyoaks. He is rude, arrogant and full of him self and just such an amazing person! It becomes really clear in the end.

Dr Reid Oliver.

Dr Reid Oliver, played by Eric Sheffer Stevens, was killed off way to early! Like two or so episodes before As the World Turns ended in 2010. Way to early! I just think it's so unecessary to kill off characters in the end. I know, it's for the drama, but why does it always have to be the best characters and the gay guys?! Really heart breaking! I do hope to see Eric Sheffer Stevens in something else. He is amazing!

So, where does it leave me? Well, I'm still a Nuke shipper, I just ship LuRe more! I mean, Reid is dead so if there can't be a sunset ending for LuRe, to ship Nuke is better than nothing. They are still cute. There's still something. And it ended promising for all the Nuke shippers. I liked the end. Open. It's good. But if you feel a bit unsatisfied with that, watch the fanvid below. It's very well done and it's satisfying. And Luke's haircut has its own life.

Another Halo

There's just something about that song that fits so perfectly in a fanvid! Well I've never seen a straight one, but I guess they're perfect to. So thank you Beyoncé for this song!

Yes, I finally started watching Nuke! And I like it! Van Hansis who plays Luke are really cute. So, who are Nuke?

Van Hansis as Luke Snyder and Jake Silbermann as Noah Mayer.

Nuke actually made the first on screen gay kiss in an American daytie soap I read somewhere. You know, Steven Carrington and Luke Fuller never got to kiss in the 80's Dynasty. So the Americans had to wait until 2007 before it happened! So we have missed out a lot of male snogging through the years. What a shame! And also, the controversial storyline of As the World Turns also gave us the first ever gay supercouple in an American soap! They really are slow starters in the USA. And everywhere else...

Van Hansis.

So, Luke Snyder (Van Hansis) appeared on screen in 1995, and was then played by several child actors, then sorased (soap opera rapid age syndrome) a few times with other actors before Van Hansis took over the part in 2005. Somewhere between that and 2007 he also came out. But Van Hansis didn't until 2014, but that is another story.

Jake Silbermann.

In 2007 Jake also met Noah Mayer (Jake Silbermann), who he fell for almost imediately. But Noah dated Luke's annoying friend Maddie before also he came out and started a relationship with Luke. But Noah's father was like the most homophobic bad ass parent ever and shot Luke trying to kill him. But Luke survives and is in a wheelchair for a while before he was fit for fight again. And that's about how far I've come.

I've been told that Nuke is likeable in the beginning but that's there's a tendency towards dislike later in the storyline. Right now I enjoy it though. The storyline is quite interesting, the soap seems to be quite alright to be an American soap, the guys are cute and they have got good chemistry. I will come back to you about how I like it later. And please enjoy Halo the Nuke way.
