The Way He Looks

A couple of days ago I saw the Brazilian movie The Way He looks, or Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho, as it is called in original. And it was absolutely amazing. It was a sweet and charming movie about first love, that I guess all of us can feel som sort of recognition in. And it is very beautiful, in a minimalistic way.

The movie is about Leonardo (Ghilherme Lobo) who is best friends with Giovana (Tess Amorim), and he is also blind. He does not have many other friends, but when the new guy Gabriel (Dabio Audi) shows up, they immediately become friends. And perhaps even a bit more...

And the actors are really amazing! If you haven't already seen the movie, please do, because it is really wonderful. It is released on DVD and Blu-ray and there are subtitles. My Portuguese is not that good, sot that is crucial. And what I really do like abou this movie is that it is really no fuzz about their love. It is a coming out story, but really no more drama than necessary. We are almost there where there's no drama at all. At least in the movies. At least in some movies...

Hollyoaks, what are you doing?!

I really thought it couldnt get any worse since I wrote about James Fletcheris going to leave the show and the Dylan-tranny-storyline probably is going to end and that John Paul and Ste broke up and we all know that Ste and Harry will get together. And I am a fool to think that was it all!

If it wasn't enough that Ste and Sinead slept together when Ste and John Paul were in a little bit of a kerfuffle and made a baby, now they also are together! But why? Ste is gay and he will get together with Harry so what's the deal with Sinead?! Why do they have to squeeze that in before the Starry (I guess it will be called that) -storyline? Unbelieveable.

But what about John Paul? Well ofcourse he will start something with his cousins husband Lockie, whom he already has flirted with before, but that was when Ste was a junkie and before Lockie got married. But actually, McBell (which seems to be the ship name) is what I'm most excited about this summer in Hollyoaks. That could be a bit refreshing, accept for the fact that Lockie is married. To John Paul's cousin. Well it is a soap opera so I shouldn't be surprised. But me and my faghag friend are convinced that it's interns who writes the script in Hollyoaks right now. It seems so!

Nagron magic

I guess you don't know this, but I happen to be an archaeologist. I have a Master's degree in archaeology and I am a history teacher. But I really don't like ancient history from Rome and Greece. I like the prehistoric times better, especially Nordic prehistoric times. It just don't fascinate me. I have seen Gladiator and I was not impressed by it. I have seen part of Spartacus I think, but I am not sure. My sister watched I Claudius when we were younger and I jawned, and I even don't love Life of Brian, even though it is quite fun. So, when I heard that there was i gay storyline in the Spartacus series (Blood and sand, Gods of the arena, Vengeance and War of the damned) I realized I had to watch it. I couldn't find just the gay storyline on youtube, and the couple, Nagron, really seemed quite interesting. But I have hesitated. I realized I would be bored. But the other day I found just the gay storyline on Vimeo! It had been cut into an 52 minutes long storyline and I watched right away.

And it was worth it! Agron and Nasir, Nagron that is, is the cutest and sexiest couple ever! They have such a passion is rare between two men onscreen! And it is American! Really, I am very surprised that an American series includes such a sex scene between two men. Between a man and a woman is not that unusual, but when it is a same sex couple, and men, we are not spoiled with that, I tell you. Looking is an exception.

So, who are they? Agron, played by the Australian actor Dan Feuerriegel, is a German gladiator who works with Spartacus. He is strong, tough and friendly. Well, that's all you need to know.

Pana Hema Taylor as Nasir.

Nasir, played by the Zelanian actor Pana Hema Taylor, is a Syrian slave who is freed in Vengeance and later becomes a warrior. He has strong moral and a strong will.

And here's what I like about this storyline is that when Agron and Nasir fall in love and become lovers, they just do. Their relationship is just very natural and no big deal. There is no coming out stories and no fuzz. I wish all relationships could be like that, whoever they are! You shouldn't have to come out when you fall in love, and it shouldn't be a big deal if you fall in love with a male, woman, trans or whoever. We need to see that mor on TV!

And also, Dan and Pana who plays Agron and Nasir, are great friends in real life it says, and they do flirt with the Nagron-fans by posting stuff like this on instagram. I just love when romances on screen creates bromances in real life. I am kind of in love with this couple right now. I might even have to watch the whole series anyway, even though I don't like ancient history. I really do want to get to know the characters better and to get the whole picture. And also...

Jonnor season 3

So, Te Fosters season three has started. Two episodes so far, and still no snogging! I am disappointed. I mean 13-14 year old boys would want to snog and do other stuff all the time. Lots of testoterone. But I saw a clip with Gavin MacIntosh and Hayden Byerly who plays Jude and Connor, and they said something about the writers not wanting them to experiment with their sexuality before they were sure about their own sexuality. Experiment by kissing for the cameras? I don't really get it.

Did I tell you that Gavin and Hayden who plays Connor and Jude are great friends in real life? Well they are, and there's something else very likeable about them. They do work against bullying and also, when youtube got an age restriction to the clip where Jude and Connor kiss for the first time (for the cameras, they had kissed before, in the tent, but we didn't get to see that) Gavin started a social media campaign to abolish that restriction. And they did! Awsome!

It says that the Jonnor kiss should be the youngest LGBT kiss in the US television history. How about that?! I do watch the clipped youtube version of the Jonnor storyline, but I do think I need to see the whole series. It seems to be really good!

Summer break

So, last thursday there was the season finale of Salatut Elämät. No exciting Lalle-scenes but they threw this at us out of the blue! If you, like me, don't speak Finnish, I can tell you that Lari is asking Sanni if Ilja (the baby) is his because just like that he remembered that he and Sanni had sex once a while ago. Well, he did remember that after Kalle told him that Janne is not the father of the baby. The actually had sex on the night when Elias and Miska celebrated their engagement. And that was before Lari hooked up with Kalle! Thank gods for that. But we never got to see Sanni's answer so we have to wait until August/September before we know if Lari is the father. I guess he is. And that is reaöy weird. That makes Kalle both uncle and stepfather to the baby. Also, this gay-boy-knocks-up-girl-which-results-in-baby storyline is so unique in soap operas. We have never seen it before. Not in Days of our lives (Will and Gabi), One life to live (Oliver and Satcy) och Hollyoaks (Ste and Amy and Sinead!). I mean really, give us something new! But the summer spin-off Satula will start soon and I do hope for some Lalle-snogging in that one! Last years spin-off gave us some Larias-snogging, but that is so last season!

Three's a crowd

I just can't wait to tomorrow! It is really about time for some Robron action! It is so time for some snogging between Aaron and Robert, and I am that both Danny and Ryan missed snogging at work! Ok, Ryan had some with Louise, but that doesn't count! So please, don't make us disappointed Emmerdale!

Stendan feels

It is really easy to get serious Stendan feels by watching this amazing fanvid. The song is also very suitable. And really, I've talked about it before but it is very strange how you feel about fictional characters in contrast to real life people. I would so detest Ste for how he treated Amy and everybody else before he got in control of his anger. And I could never stand watching Ste giving Brendan chance after chance while he was using him and expose him for that abuse. But this is a soap opera and I just can't help being a Stendan shipper. And I am sure the magic just wouldn't be there without the great acting skills from Kieron Richardson and Emmett J. Scanlan. More intense chemistry between two actors you have to look hard for! Thank you Hollyoaks for this!

Lalle in pictures

Ok, there is no secret that I ship Lalle much more than Larias in Salatut Elämät right now. And I really do think that I will be a Lalle-shipper until the bitter end. I mean, Lalle is such a more interesting relationship than Larias. There is just so much more dimentions to it. There is the age difference, the fact that Kalle is not Lari's first boyfriend, the fact that Kalle is a doctor, and he is also a rape victim. And the fact that Kalle is a well-educated physician and that used to be homeless and is now working in a café makes it even more interesting. For me Lalle is the real deal. But I just know that Elias will ruin it all. But in the meantime I am going to enjoy Lalle as long as it lasts. Here are some pictures that I haven't posted before.

And also, Pete Lattu and Ronny Roslöf are great actors. But I've told you that before!

Oh darn, Elias...

So, this screenshot says it all... Elias will be back in Salatut Elämät this fall and he will cause drama. Between Lari and Kalle I assume. Oh sigh... Ok, Petteri Paavola says that Elias will be more mature, and that sounds promising, but I really don't miss him. And I really wouldn't care if he never came back. But, of course, I guess Larias is endgame. But I hardly think I will be a Larias shipper again. Lalle for life!

Ben & Paul

Yesterday a new, very important, chapter of Eastenders began. And I was NOT disappointed! That is - Ben and Paul. Paul Coker (Jonny Labey) arrived to Walford and there were sparks right away between him and Ben Mitchell (Harry Reid). There was some snogging in the episode and it seems like there is more to come. Actually, this s the most exciting (gay) storyline in all soaps right now. All the others are really boring. I am super excited! So, to be continued.
