Two happy birthdays and one congratulation!

James Sutton and Emmett J. Scanlan.

Well what a day! It is not special because it's my fiancé's ex girlfriend's birthday. No, it is both Emmett J. Scanlan's and James Sutton's birthdays today. Happy happy birthday to you both! They are both two of my favourite actors and they also play two of y favourite gay characters ever! That is John Paul McQueen and Brendan Brady. Love them both. And Emmett is not the only one who is getting married!

Kit Williams and James Sutton.

Yesterday also James Sutton asked his girlfriend to marry him and she said yes! It is a trend among the Hollyoaks gays to get married. This spring Kieron Richardson (Ste Hay)  is getting married and Emmett asked Claire to marry him and also she said yes! Happy days! And if you know your Hollyoaks, you will think this is funny!

The Swedes

As I've told you before, Sweden hasn't go much to be proud about when it comes to gay storylines. We have some from Rederiet and Skilda världar, and to see them you have to go to SVT öppet arkiv (Rederiet) och buy the DVD's (Skilda världar). If you would like to the story about Micki in Rederiet, start watching from the episode 100. It ight be a problem if you're not in Sweden though...

Kim Dahlberg and Adam Nyberg from Andra Avenyn.

But there are a couple of storylines you can watch online. To see the story about Kim (Jonas Bane) and Adam (Simon Gavik) you can tube in to the channel Atraxii to see the whole storyline. I like the storyline, even though I would have preferred another ending.

Tarek and Andreas in 183 dagar.

The picture is awful, I know, but it was the only one I could find. There is also a small storyline from the drama series 183 dagar in which we have Tarek (Jonatan Rodriguez) and Andreas (André Sjöberg). You can also find that in Antraxiis channel here. I don't like the ending at all! But I like the passion and the actors are a couple of favourites of mine. And Jonatan also played gay in the Swedish drama series Saltön. Just saying.

Another disappointment

I am actually quite disappointed with the latest Larias storyline. No, I am actually disappointed with Salatut Elämät in general. What are you doing?

All the gay characters of Salatut Elämät in the same picture. Blimey!

Ok, as I told you before, I was a huge Larias shipper. I am not any more. I mean, it is boring! The really pulled the stpry too far. If the intensions are to get Lari (Ronny Roslöf) and Elias (Petteri Paavola) back together, why didn't you last spring? I mean, we were up for it then. Now there is an more suitable love interest for Lari if you ask me. I think that Kalle (Pete Lattu) is better for Lari because Elias is a whiney little brat. And now, it might seem as they are planning to end the Lari and Kalle love story before it really started, and that is the easy, more boring way to go. I don't approve! But it seems like Miska (Juska Reimann) will break the engagement, and I think it would be an interesting twist, and a bitch lap, if Elias got dumped and Lari managed to keep his boyfriend.

The kidnapped Lari and Elias.

And the kidnapping storyline! What is that? There are so many holes in that storyline that I can't count! I mean, how could Marianna carry Lari, Elias, Heidi and Janne by herself to the nest? Especially when it turned out that the nest was a room in Heidi's appartment! I mean, somebody ought to have seen her! And it is not that believable that Heidi wouln't notice anything, that she had prisoners in her home. And what about toilet visits? Really? They couldn't have not gone for the toilet in weeks. They same problem for Dodger in Hollyoaks. To make it believable, take the kidnap victims to the toilet or at least give them a potty! I am glad this storyline seems like it has come to an end, and I really hope they make something good with Kalle and Lari. Otherwise I think they wasted a whole year of precious Larias-time. At least, a proper storyline with Lari and Elias is better than this!

(And also, I am really disappointed in the clips on youtube. It is great that there is a pioneer that translates them, but lately it feels like only the most essential is translated and the scenes are cut so we can't see them i whole, and the storyline get's really cut into too small pieces. Right now, ,it actually feels like the translation is limited to the lines that direct linked to the Lari/Kalle/Elias/Miska-stoyline, and I for one would like to see the scenes in whole. I wish I understood Finnish.)

A disappointment

Eric Osborne as Miles and Lyle Lettau as Tristan.

I am really disappointed in Degrassi. When I started watching it i season 14 I loved it straight away. I watched the Triles storyline on youtube to catch up and then continued season 14, but realized that it wasn't enough for me. I started waching the whole season 13 and realized that I really loved it and was thinking of research if there is a way to watch from the first season. But then I saw in Instagram that they broke up Triles. Really? Did they get about three episodes together or what. And now it seems like Miles is going to go back to Maya. I am so disappointed! Why make a straight guy pansexual just to make him straight again? I really hope that there will be a Triles ending because I think the series need that storyline. I know that it has been done before, I mean straight guy falls for gay guy, it ends of any reason and straight guy goes back to girls only (Christian in Verbotene Liebe and Deniz in Alles Was Zählt are two great examples), but I am not sure if Degrassi has done it before. Besides, I think that Eric Osborne (Miles) and Lyle Lettau (Tristan) has amazing chemistry and who would not want to see that? And also, I don't like Maya.

We don't give up!

Simon and Kieren. We can't have enough.

Well, there is more to do. There is also a petition for In the Flesh to get at new home on Amazon. Of course I signed that to. I did that because Amy Dyer is not dead and because I can't get enough of Kieren and Simon. And Emmett J. Scanlan and Luke Newberry. And the series is all about to feel excluded from society and to try to fit in, and we all struggle with that from time to time. It is a very important tv-series. So please sign the petition! Just follow the link.

A new petition to save In the Flesh!

Luke Newberry as Kieren Walker.
It's not just me who thinks that Netflix should renew In the Flesh. Here is a petition for the cause that right now has over 12500 signatures! Please sign it to! Just follow the link. And share it on facebook so we can get more signatures. And I have also seen a lot of messages on social Media to Netflix that is asking them to renew the series, and the responses have been very polite and hopeful. Please please please Netflix, give In th Flesh a new home! The PDS-sufferers need it!

Gay villains

Of course, there are som gay villains in soap operas. But they aren't that many actually. There are some dumb and stupid guys, some dramaqueens and a lot of them are cheaters, but a few of them are real villains.

Emmett J. Scanlan as Brendan Brady.

Let's start with the villainn of the villains, Brendan Brady from Hollyoaks. Well of course, he have som good sides. He can be kind and hearty, but most of the times he is a bit evil. But I lovee him, because he is so fun! He is violent and exposes Ste for domestic abusement, he kills at least three people during the 2.5 years he appeared in Hollyoaks and he is doing a lot of dodgy stuff. Emmett J. Scanlan is doing a brilliant job playing the character and he was shortlisted seven times for the part in various awards, nominated five times and he won six times. In 2011 and 2012 he won for bort Villain of the year and Best bad boy. So actually, this sociopathic, self-loathing, homophobic gay man, was a real villain. And we haven't seen anyone like him, I would dare to state.

Kieron Richardson as Ste Hay.

Well, Brendan Brady is not the only gay villain we have seen in Hollyoaks. Actually, Kiern Richardson was nominated for Villain of the year in 2008 and 2009 years British soap awards. If you have seen Ste the last years, at least since Brendan stepped into the series, Ste has been nothing like a villain. A bit daft amybe, and he has been cheating more than once, but there is nothing evil in him. It is easy to remember him as the drug-addict or victim of domestic abuse, but back in the days he was a bit of a bad boy. Actually he was a bit of a rebell who crashed a car and left Amy in it, and he is sent to a young offender's institute for that. And when he comes back, he is a slacker with no job who abuses hid girlfriend Amy and even cuts her her at one point. But he get's help to deal with his anger and he is growing up to become a decent guy. But he is quite daft and always makes the wrong decisions and hurt everyone who he cares about, but he has a warm heart and he doesn't want anyone to get hurt, really. And I love him, of course!

Bruno Langley as Todd Grimshaw.

It seems like the British are the ones who have the guts to make the gays the bad boys. And heres one more. Todd Grimshaw of Coronation Street is stated to be a not that nice of a guy. Todd (Bruno Langley) was actually the first gay character in Coronation Street and he came out in 2003. Really? The show has been going on since 1960! A bit embarrassing I think. Well, Todd kissed his girlfriends brother, he then had a secret relationship with the nurse Karl, and then he left the series in 2004. But he came back in 2013 and he is now stated to be in a relatioonship with a guy called Marcus. Well, actually, I started to watch the Todd storyline last year and saw some snogging on Canal Street but I really got bored of it and gave up. It was just about sneaking around and not enough snogging. But I might give it another chance. Anyway, Todd is stated to be a manipulative liar, and since he came back he has been called a  "wily man-hunter", "manipulative fella" and "scheming man-stealer in Inside Soap. So, a villain he is.

Danny Miller as Aaron Livesy and Ryan Hawley as Robert Sugden.

And when we're at it, we might as well talk a bit about Aaron and Robert. Aaron Livesy (Danny Miller) is a Dingle. That would say it all. he is listed as a villain on Wikipedia, but to mee he seems more like a thug. He has been nominated for, and he has won, a lot of awards, but no ne for villain or bad boy. So he can't be that bad. Of what I have seen, he was just a bit of a troubled teenager. But the guy he is seeing right now, Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) is told to be quite a douchebag, and he is "becomming quite the soap villain these days", according to The Mirror. To be continued about these guys.

Harry Reid as Ben Mitchell.

Well, and Ben Mitchell (Joshua Pascoe, Harry Reid)  should be counted as a villain. Ok, I don't think he is deep-laid evil, but he intrigues a lot, he accused Christian of sexual harassment and he killed his stepmothers friend. Proof enough? But he is only 18, and it seems like most of the times, he just makes the wrong choises. I don't think he will be an icurable villain like Ptarick Blake in Hollyoaks. Hopefully he will grow up a bit and start making the right choises.

Timothy Boldt as Ringo Beckmann.

And then we have dear Ringo from Unter Uns. He is both vicious and vile, but to his parents, he is an absolute angel. While he is the perfect son he steals from his neighbours, he hacks into computers, he breaks up couples and he is unpleasant and rude in general. He is quite homophobic, at least for a while, even though he is bisexual himself and have had some flings wityh men. He actually falls for Yannick (Eric Stehfest), but his homophobic ways makes him beat him almost to death. Later on he makes a scheme just to make Yannick leave Köln. But really, I think he is a breath of fresh air compared to all the naive and a bit boring gay characters in other soaps. I like him! I just think he needs some more boy on boy action.

Take me to church

In Sweden we have Musikhjälpen in December. It's been going on since 2008 and in 2014 the theme was to stop the spreading of HIV. That is a very important cause according to me. I requested one song every day. That was seven songs, but none of them was played. But Hozier's Take me to church was. At least five times a day! It is a great song but I got a bit tired of it. But it's still a great song. And the other day I saw the video. It was terrible but yet beautiful. Watch it! And help stop harrassments of LGBT-people!

A sad sad day...

Emmett J. Scanlan as Simon Monroe and Luke Newberry as Kieren Walker.

Yesterday we got a sad sad announcement. BBC3 announced that there will be no series three of In the Flesh! I am heartbroken! There are still so much questions that has not been answered! And, really, Amy Dyer is not dead! Ok, don't get me wrong, I am not bitter at BBC3. The reason that they have cancelled it is that they only have budget for one original drama series a year and they want to "create room for emerging talent". That is acceptable reasons, but the story isn't finished and we need to know what happens! And we do need more Simon and Kieren. I now hope for Netflix to make season 3. Thay have done it before, when series get cancelled. And I really think that In the flesh is way better and interesting than The Killing! And when you're at it, renew The Carrie Diaries as well! Enough said!

Oh creepy

Emmett J. Scanlan in Suspects.

This week, finally, Suspects third season started. Also a short season with only four episodes. But in the first, Emmett J. Scanlan starred. I have been waiting! And he was brilliant as usual! But he was really creepy! I never thought Brendan Brady was creepy. Not at all. I always loved Brendan. But this part, the head teacher Rory O'Hanlon, was a real psychopath. Brendan is just a softy-psychopath if you ask me. And a hilarious one. And this shows what a magnificent actor Emmett is, when he is so believable as a creepy head teacher and a sociopathic, self-loathing, homophobic gay man (that character has it all), for instance.

Emmett J. Scanlan in The Fall.

There's lot's of Emmett right now. We have finally taken up watching the second season of the Fall, and he has an a lot prominent roll in this season. Glen Martin is a quite enjoyable character to watch. And the series is really great! But it is quite weird to see Emmett playing a good guy. The head teacher was creep and sorry Brendan Brady, you were never a good guy, even though I will always love you!

Emmett J. Scanlan and Claire Cooper.

By the way, more Emmett news for devoted fans: this Christmas Emmett and his girlfriend Claire Cooper (Jacqui McQueen in Hollyoaks) got engaged! He proposed and she said yes. What a joy! Congratulaions to both! I like weddings. I hope that they do to.

Looking season 2

The Looking cast.

So, yesterday season two of Looking started. Yay! And the start of the season has not made me dissapointed! This season will be two episodes longer than the last season and Russel Tovey and Raúl Castillo has joined Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett as regulars. For me, Patrick's storyline (Jonathan Groff) is the most interesting. I can't wait to see what happens between him and Kevin! Russel Tovey is just so brilliant and british! I think that he and Jonathan Groff has amazing chemistry. I do not care for Richie. Just sayin'. Dom's and Agustín's storylines are not that interesting. At least, they were a bit boring in season 1. But I love the series and I can't wait to see how it develops for all the characters. I put my faith in HBO right now.

Well HIV...

Kieron Richardson as Ste Hay.

Well, Ste (Hollyoaks) has got HIV. According to the spoilers he got in from a one night stand and his and John Pauls relationship will become a bit shaky. As it wasn't before? But, as far as I know, this is the first time a LGBT character in a soap opera is HIV positive. We had some examples of the gay fright,. You know and old lover is diagnosed with HIV, the character get's really worried and depressed before the negative result comes.

Jo Weil and Igor Dolgatschew.

Olli (Verbotene Liebe) did it before he finally married Christian. Deniz (Alles Was Zählt) did it after Roman cheated on him. But he actually had unprotected sex while he was drunk. Just as Ste, I assume. Deniz had a really tough period when he took PEP and was sick all the time. But neither Olli or Deniz had HIV. So, I really think this is the first time a gay character is diagnosed with HIV in a soap opera. Which is quite weird actually. Somehow people is connecting gays with HIV. They are even on the same page in biology books in school I was told. I hope that was outdated books...

Well, but we have som examples of straight chracters with HIV. First out is Eastenders Mark Fowler.

Todd Carty as Mark Fowler.

The character Mark Fowler was in the series between 1985-1987 (with another actor) and then between 1990-2003. In 1990 he was diagnosed with HIV. He actually told his family about his HIV as he followed a friends example, a friend who actuallt was gay and HIV positive, but he was only in the series for a short while so that really doesn't count. Anyhow, he is married three times and have a quite happy life before he develops AIDS in 2003, leaves Walford and then dieas a year after.

Kimberly McCullough as Robin Scorpio.

Well, and it might spring to mind that a character in General Hospital is HIV-positive. In 1995 Robin Scorpio was diagnosed, which she cought from her lover Michael "Stone" Cates, who also dies from AIDS te same year. But Robin is staying put, and no AIDS in sight. It's amazing how well the retroviral drugs work!

Glen Wallace as Malachy Fisher.

Then there was Malachy in Hollyoaks. Malachy Fisher was the older brother of the bisexual crossdresser Kris Fisher. Initially, he is a homophobe, and he learns that he is HIV-positive in 2008 when he is giving blood. And he gets over the homophobic thing. And he dates both Mercedes McQueen (who he also marries), Cheryl Brady and Lynsey Nolan. Three of my favourite characters, so he seems to have good taste. But he also dies, of course, in the explosion in Il Gnosh. To bad.

Charlie Hardwick as Val Pollard.

Our most recent character with HIV (except from Ste) is Emmerdale's Val Pollard. She got infected by a fling on vacation i Portugal and was diagnosed in january 2014. We had a big AIDS-fright story in the village there, that ended in a praised heart-felt talk in the Woolpack. The countryside, you know.

But anyway, I am very excited about Ste's HIV storyline. I think it will beat the others by long! This one has John Paul in it. Just that fact will make it amazing! Their interaction will make it amazing! McHay for the win!

Hollyoaks 2015 is here!

Do you know what? Hollyoaks is now 20 yers old. In October 1995 the first episode of this wonderful british soap opera was aired. Hollyoaks have existed more than half of my life. So, when it turns 20 years, it has to be a special year. Just watch the official trailer!

Ok... HIV... Haven't John Paul and Ste gone through enough already? This can be really interesting. James Sutton who plays John Paul have said that he and Kieron Richardson (Ste) has a long journey ahead of them. I am so excited! I absolutely love them! Both the characters and the actors. I might be more of a McHay-shipper than a Stendan-shipper nowdays. How did that happen?

The last of Johnny

Sam Strike as Johnny Carter.

On the day before Christmas it was the last appearance of Johnny Carter in Eastenders, about a year before he turned up. The storyline was promising with an early snog with Danny Pennant (Gary Lucy), a character I never really liked, but there was some quite cute flirting and it could have been interesting.

Sam Strike as Johnny and Danny Dyer as Mick Carter.

Later on, Eastenders gave us one of the most amazing and beautiful coming out moments ever. When Johnny came out for his father Mick, I think there was more than me who got wet eyes. And Mick Carter really is a perfect example how a parent should react. Johnnys mother, Linda, is an example on how a parent should not react...

Gianluca and Johnny.

This summer, Johnny had fling with an italian guy, Gianluca (Gabriele Lombardo), and at last we could see some more snogging. Don't get me wrong, it was really cute, but a little bit to sweet and awkward. We would have likes a little more passion in the kissing. But it would do.

Harry Reid as Ben Mitchell and Steve McFadden as Phil Mitchell.

And then Ben Mitchell came back. Ben is the son of Phil Mitchell and Kathy Beale (fun fact: actor Gillian Taylforth also playes Sandy Roscoe in Hollyoaks) who just came out from prison for killing his stepmothers friend. Ben is recasted by Harry Reid, but we have seen him before played by four other actors.

Joshua Pascoe as Ben Mitchell.

Between 2010 and 2012 Ben Mitchell was played by Joshua Pascoe, and back then we learned that he was gay when he had a little snog with his friend Duncan and he also had a crush on no other than Christian Clarke (John Partridge), but is rejected and accuses him for abuse. Chrstian, however is cleared from those accusations. Back then I didn't really like Ben. I mean, his snogging to his friend Duncan is cute, but anyone who tries to break u Christian and Syed (Marc Elliott) doesn't get my approval. But, after a few years jail, I have to say that I like Ben.

Ben tries to kiss Johnny.

But something weird has happened. Well, Ben lost his virginity to a girl, and then stated that he dfinitely is gay, but when he came back from jail and tried to snog Johnny, he was back in denial again. How did that happen? The classical line "I am not gay" has been used several times since Ben came back in October.

Well, Ben and Johnny never happened. On the 23'rd of December actually Johnny left Walford to travel with his old fling Gianluca. I like that Johnny andd Gianluca kind of had a happy ending, but I am annoyed about the meaningless storyline of Johnny Carter. He was only there for a year and he almost had no action at all. I really think that the Johnny and Ben storyline had potential and was hoping for that. But, you'll never know, maybe Johnny will come back to his wacky family. And Ben Mitchell has potential. He is in denial and he has an alibi girlfriend so this might be a real classical soapy gay storyline, just in my taste.

New Year's resolution

Happy New Year! I have a New Year's resolutin for you. This year, 2015, I will blog a lot more. I have been lousy in periods.I think pressure myself to write really, witty,, and fun, and interesting, and smart, every time. I don't have to do that. I can write about what I want, because this is my blog.

I also wat to give you a treat. This is some very cute fan art I found somewhere from In the flesh, which might be the best series ever made if you ask me! I want a third season! I want some more Kieren Walker, Luke Newberry, Simon Monroe and Emmett J. Scanlan! Please give me!
