Yay Larias!

Salatut Elämät has been on summer break since the middle of June and at least I have missed it, even though there haven't been much Larias action lately. Last season ended with quite a cliffhanger with psychopaths and explosions and stuff so I guess we have all been waiting anxiously for the story to continue. But, as I told before, we had a little substitute for Salatut Elämät during the summer with You girl, dream girl, a spinn off with all the youngsters in the show, including Lari and Elias.

The Young girl, dream girl cast.

And it has been sooo boring! Short, vacuous episodes, really woody and unnatural dialogues, and really not good acting. I'm sorry guys, but it has not been good. The plot is really blank to. I guess that the story has been shot in a very short time, with a small budget and no good conditions, but it doesn't really make up for the really boring storyline. It has been a whole summer full of Iida-whining. And I don't like Iida-whining. Sorry. But, even though, I didn't really like it, well it's better than no Salatut Elämät and Larias at all, and we even got some Larias snogging. Yay! But unfortunately it was to short. Well well... There are two episodes left of Young girl, dream girl, and it still will be quite interesting to see how they will wrap everything up.

But tomorrow Salatut Elämät has it's premiere. Yay! And I have been able to get in hand of some spoilers, and some photos. Missfinlandia88 published this on her tumblr earlier this week:

Miska and Lari.

  • Lari finds Elias under a table and Elias is taken to the hospital wounded
  • Miska is disappointed and angry after he finds Lari sitting next to Elias’ bed
  • Miska decides to stay by Elias’ side until Elias wakes up cos they have things to clear up
It's not much, but it sounds promising. And is it just me or has Miska (Juska Reiman) become a little more chubby?

And Missfinlandia88 also shared some random facts about the season that also sounds promising for a Larias reunion:
  • Some episode names have been released suggesting neither Lari or Elias dies in the shooting since there’s episodes with their names on.
  • They showed a clip of Elias lying on the floor and Sebastian screaming Elias’ name though on the fall press - Elias might be wounded.
  • Juska (Miska) was on the press too but some things suggested he’s not anymore filming episodes as already hinted on the spring. Also Petteri and Ronny were interviewed together, Juska was nowhere to be seen during the interviews.
  • Ronny promised drama for the fall season.
  • Petteri said they know majority of fans want Larias together and only some prefer Miska over Lari.
  • Petteri said he thinks no matter how hard Elias tries he can’t get over Lari and how much he loves him. Maybe that’s a hint Larias will be reunited soon ;)
  • Also Salatut Elämät contract has been renewed and the show will continue at least until summer 2018.
And I also found this photo on instagram:

Well, just get it over with! We all know that your intensions are to bring Lari and Elias back together and I honestly think that we have been waiting long enough!

Eine kleine DeRo revival

On tuesday, 26'th of Ausgust that is, episode 2000 of Alles Was Zählt will be aired. Because of that some of the actors have chosen has chosen som old scenes to watch and comment. A lot of laughter, "Oh how do I look"-comments and such stuff figured in that clip. Lot's of fun to watch if you are and AWZ-fan.

Igor Dolgaschew remembering Romans death.

But which clip did our Igor choose? Well he choose a quite grievous scene, that is when Roman died. Oh the pain. In the clip we get to see how Igor Dolgaschew is watching the scene, spellbound. And then he says something about how powerful the scene is and we can also see how he is sweating while watching it. Dearest Igor, you are so nice and by choosing this clip and letting us watch you watching it, you are letting us see how important and strong this story was for you, the series and the viewers. I can only guess that Dennis Grabosch is feeling the same. But by watching it I really realize how crappy my german is. I really don't understand that slurred and fast-speaking german. I have to exercise my german more often. And I also have to confess that I haven't watched this storyline to the end yet. I came into a period where there is almost no DeRo scenes (that takes the story forwards that is) worth mentioning in this period and I also don't want it to end so I am avoiding watching it a bit. Because I know that Roman will die and it can never be a sunset ending for DeRo in any way so I have been keeping it for a while... But now I guess I will have to continue the story. I adore DeRo so very much! There is some kind of perfection there that I cant really describe... So thank you Igor for sharing this with us! You can watch the clip here.

Favourite fanvids ep.3

It's been a while since I shared some of my favourite fanvids. We must do something about that I think. I actually love fanvids! I can sit for hours just watching all sorts of fanvids, even though gay themes are the favourites. Today I have to share a new favourite. I have so fallen in love with Stendan! Ste and Brendan from Hollyoaks that is. I know that it's a brutal love story, but I love it anyway. I so hope that also they will get a sunset ending in the end.

This is a couple I loved even before I started watching it by watching fanvids and clips on youtube. I guess I love them because their story contains those ingredients that I have a penchant for, that is denial, on-and-off and a certain amount of violence. And passion of course. I know, I am weird. But I also love the characters Ste Hay and Brendan Brady. And by that I mean I really really love them! And I love the actors Kieron Richardson and Emmet J. Scanlan. I absolutely adore them! And this is also a great song. Lovely indeed!

Another great video I watch sometimes is actually one with a storyline I haven't seen. The dutch soap Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden has a regular character called Lucas Sanders (Ferry Doedens) that has had a couple of partners through the years. His first real boyfriend (I think) was called Edwin Bouwhuis (Raynor Arkenbout) and I would really like to watch their storyline but it is really impossible to find! What I shame I have to say because the story seems really amazing.

In the meantime before anyone tells me where I can watch the story (or download it) I have to make do with great fanvids and clips on youtube. This one is my favourite. And if you want to practice your spanish, here you have the chance. I actually think that every fictional gay couple should have a fanvid with Halo by Beyoncé. And there are more than one out there already. Some day I will make a post only Halo-fanvids. I do happen to know what happened to Lucas and Edwin, Ludwin that is, which I have blogged about before. And I also know what happens to Lucas after Edwin, which I have also blogged about. I even do know what happens after that, but that will be another post. If anyone knows how to watch the Lucas and Edwin storyline, or another Lucas storyline, please do tell me!

I will also serve you a very short and rapid fanvid, but yet a lovely one! One of my favourite couples of all time is Cenny, Lenny and Carsten, from the German soap opera Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten, which also is quite hard to find. But I know how, hehe. Anyways, this is another storyline with a little violence, but it is very beautiful and it has a happy ending for Lenny Cöster (Alexander Becht) and Carsten Reimann (Felix Isenbügel) and if you want to see the really quick version of their storyline you should watch this video.

It is not in chronological order but you will get the essentials of the story. If you, like me, are  Cenny shipper (the new word again) and sometimes get some Lenny and Carsten cravings, this is an excellent remedy. Enjoy!

Transgender and cross dressing

Jared Leto as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club.

Last weekend I saw the amazing Dallas Buyers Club. Jared Leto is really incredible and incredible cute as the HIV positive transgender Rayon. Well he should be because he got an Oscar for the part. Then it hit me that there is really almost no transgender or crossdressing in soaps anywhere. I can't recall any transgender or crossdressing in a swedish soap for instance. But there is some exceptions.

Well, there are some guest characters in both soaps and drama series both here and there, but regulars who are transgender or crossdressers in soaps are not really that common. In drama series there are some more like Sophia in Orange is the new Black for example, but that will be a post of it's own.

The first example of a transgender character in a daytime soap opera (that I know of) is the character Hayley Cropper in Coronation Street played by Julie Hesmondhalgh.

Hayley Cropper.

Hayley, who first appeared on screen in January 1998, is told to be the first permanent transgender character in the world of serialised drama. Way to go Julie! Hayley revealed quite early the she was a pre-operative male-to-female transgender woman who was originally called Harold on a date with her husband to be Roy Cropper. But it doesn't go as smooth as you might hope for Hayley. At first, Roy rejects her because he can't bear the truth (but then repents) and then she looses her job when her boss get to know the truth. But she will have some happy years with Roy and a couple of on and off foster children before she learns that she has cancer and takes her own life in November 2013. What a sad ending for such a nice, and important, character.

Jeffrey Carlson as Zoe in All My Children.

Another transgender character is the character of Zoe in the american ABC soap  All My Children. Zoe, who was played by Jeffrey Carlson, first appeared in August 2006 and last appeared in April 2007. A half a year was all we got from the americans. And that was the first, and as far as I know, only transgender in an american daytime soap. That is not enough I would say. And this seems to be a quite brief and not that deep storyline about a male international rock star who falls in love with a lesbian, comes out as a transgender, has some problems with her parents and then leaves for London. Why did yoy not develop that storyline ABC? But I can guess that the transgender story didn't appeal to the audience. But maybe I am wrong.

Victoria Atkin as Jason Costello.

Hollyoaks is a series that has had numerous gay characters through the years, and they have also had three characters worth mentioning here. We had Jason Costello, played by Victoria Atkin, who was a regular between August 2010 until December 2011. Jason was born as Jasmine and started up by becoming friends with Bart McQueen and pretends to be aboy without his family knowing. Jason and Bart has a fling, Bart thinks he has a gilrfriend, but Jason only wants to be a boyfriend. But to make a long story short, that contains some curing attempts from his mother, a suicide attempt, a serial killer as a grandfather and some jelousy from Bart when Jason dates another guy, Jason leaves for America to start over as Jasmine never existed. So that was an early end for that story as well. I for one, would have wanted to see a development in the relationship between Jason and Bart. But that is just me.

Blessing Chambers.

In February this year (2014) Blessing Chambers (Modupe Adeyeye) entered the Hollyaoks drama. Blessing worked as a glass collector in a strip club when one thong led to another and Dennis Savage was the reason she was sacked. Dennis then offers her somewhere to stay and attractions develops. Dennis can't cope with the fact that she is a transgender though, and there will be a knot on the thread (fnurra på tråden). Blessing kisses Finn O'Connor (that bastard! I wil tell you in another post) who later attacks her and then I don't know more what happend. I haven't seen all the episodes from this year yet because or swedish streaming service is a little behind. But I am very excited what the wrighters has for us!

Well, we have four transgender characters where two of them are from Hollyoaks. But what about transvestites and cross dressing? If you google 'transvestite soap opera' you find nothing! Just a little something about transgender characters. But I happen to know one. And this is also from Hollyoaks.

Kris Fisher.

In 2006 until 2010 we had Kris Fisher (Gerard McCarthy) and I love love love that character! Kris is, even today, the only permanent cross dressing character in an british soap. He is the only permanent cross dressing character in any soap as far as I knows! And he really was great. He was quirky, a bit vulgar, confident and just fabulous! And he was also kind and funny. And a little bit rude, Love him! Over the years we was in a relationships with both boys and girls, and he also had a brief polyamorous relationship with Ravi and Nancy. The actor, Gerard McCarthy once said that he thought that Kris wasn't trying to cross dress or to be a transvestite, he just had an own style. But I don't give a damn about labels, because I think that it is just what cross dressing and transvestitism is all about. To dress, feel and be just as you want. And Kris did that. And Gerard McCarthy was very praised for that. But he also was a bit criticized when his character wore LGBT campaign t-shirts. To that I can only say as the t-shirt: Some people are gay. Get over it!

Gerard McCarthy and Bronagh Waugh.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any pictures with Kris in a skirt. But I hope you enjoy this wonderful picture with the beautiful Bronagh Waugh as Cheryl Brady. Cute and cuter.

Was that all? Yes, unfortunately I think it was. Except for when Romanpretended to be Stella and wore her clothes in an ice skating competition with Deniz:

Deniz and Roman.

...and Janne dressed in womens clothes and presented himself as Jane just to be able to visit Iida in the eating disorders clinic:

Hemmo Karja as "Jane" Haukkala.

...but that doesn't really count. Even though they were very cute, both of them! But we need more transgender, transvestitism and cross dressing in soaps. Because it is more common than you think, and that's why it needs to be more visible. That's what I think!

If there are some more examples of transgenders, transvestites, cross dressers or others who fit under the T letter, please let me know! Leave a comment or send me an e-mail! I am reading them all.
Hugs and kisses!

Gays Days

I've started watching the Will and Sonny storyline from Days of our lives from the beginning. I haven't seen all the gay storylines yet (even though I try to imply I have) and the WilSon storline I have just seen parts from. The thing is, it seems like the american channels and production companies can be just as stingy as the german. One youtube-user has been flagging that the WilSon storyline soon can be deleated from youtube so I thought I better get started.

Chandler Massey and Freddie Smith.

There are few things that I'm astonished about. I really didn't expect Chandler Massey to be such a good actor! I knew he was good, I mean you don't win the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series if you are not good but I didn't expect him to be so good! I mean, it's an american soap, the actors are usually not that good. Sorry all american soap actors, don't take it personally, it's not your fault, it's the lousy scripts, the unatural sets and the work pace that makes it. But Chandler Massey has a really natural act that you almost never see. I can really get why he drops of Days to complete his actor studies.

Guy Wilson as Will Horton.

I haven't seen much of Guy Wilsons portaing of Will Horton yet but hopefully it will be satisfying. But anyways, there's more that astonishes me. The other thing is that Will and Sonny are so cute together! Chandler and Freddie has a really good interaction that is a delight to see! And that's an aspect that makes the storyline worth watching. Because sorry, at least for as far as I have come, there is not much more. Sorry Days, but I had forgotten how slow, dull and woody american soap operas in general, and Days of our lives especially is. I realised why I prefer german and british soaps. Of course they are also a bit slow sometimes, but at least something happens! In Days a typical days catastrophy that is about two hours in Days-time takes two weeks or two months to show on air! And the dialogs just go on and on and on... And also, american soaps can be so prude and sugary, but in the same times not. You can wait forever before you have sex but, but in the same episodes there is a violent axe murderer on the loose. You know what I mean. But I will continue watching it. All soap gay storylines are good storylines. Of course.

Stinginess

Some channels and production companies are really stingy! I mean really stingy! I live in Sweden. I have told you before that swedish gay storylines doesn't realle exist right now. I know good english and ok german. But they are talking really fast in german soaps som if I watch it with no subtitles I will miss at least half of the dialogue. I know some phrases in other languages as finnish (ei saa peittää) and spanish (una grande cerveza por favor). But that's all. And I am a faghag. I love gay storylines, especially from soaps. And some channels and production companies are making it really hard for me! Out there, there are lots and lots of generous people who subtitle and upload gay storylines and they are really really appreciated and popular! People in all ages all around the world are watching these storylines on Youtube, Dailymotion, Vimeo etc.

There are some really evil channels, like RTL for example. RTL has got three soap operas with ongoing or previous gay storylines, like Ringos from Unter Uns. But as soon that they learn that anyone, I mean anyone, has uploaded something from their shows, they ensure it will be deleted. And I will tell why that is so stupid!

I have been a faghag for a long time. I loved the soryline of Steven Carrington and Luke Fuller when I was a kid and watched Dynasty on it's rerun on the afternoons on swedish TV4. One day I decided to see if there were any clips with Steven and Luke on Youtube. The short, but cute storyline was on Youtube and I watched it. I decided to see the clips with Jack and Doug from Dawsons Creek as well and Youtube suggested a new clip that looked interesting, and then a new clip, and a new clip... Well you get the point. Then I saw there was a clip called "The sweetest gay love story ever" which I just had to watch! And that was a fanvid of Fer and David from Física o Química. And oh my godd I was in love! In two days I formally plowed as much of the storyline that I found on Dailymotion and Youtube. And I have been a Fervid shipper ever since (I've learned a new word). I found Gaydaytime and rewatched the Fervid storyline from time to time. I watched a lot of fanvids with lots of gay couples from both movies and series and picked up more and more storylines. Actually when I watched some Fervid clips again about a year later I was recommended the Larias storyline and also plowed that in a couple of days.

So I realized I had to see some more storylines. I watched Kish, Chrolli, Chryed etc and got to know quite a few soaps both american, british and german. Before I got my hands of these storylines I had never heard of Alles Was Zählt, Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten and Hollyoaks. Now I love them all! When I was in Germany in February, of course I had to watch both Alles Was Zählt and Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten in real time. A couple of weeks ago I realized I can watch Hollyoaks on SVT Play and it really was a haleluja moment!

What I want to say is that all publicity is good publicity even if it's in a faghags forum. The channels are really shooting theirselfs in the foot by reporting, deleting and banning! Isn't it a good thing that people all around the world hear about the soaps and have the chance to watch it? If I would move to Germany I would both watch Alles Was Zählt, Gute Zeiten, Schlechte Zeiten and Unter Uns. That's three shows I would never had heard about if it wasn't for all the fans that are subtitling them. Just look at Salatut Elämät from Finland, where MissFinlandia88 has the permission to subtitle and put out on Youtube the scenes with Lari and Elias. It is massively popular all around the world. So please RTL and all the other channels, stop be so stingy! You will just loose ou on it. This is an honest advice from me to you. You will win more viewers and more respect in that way. Stop making it so hard for us to see Lenny and Carsten, Deniz and Roman, Joscha and Kai and Ringo and Aaron. That is really so cheap of you to try to keep them for your own.
